About Harmony

I began my career in journalism as an Editorial Assistant at Detroit Monthly magazine, a former publication of Crain's. When the magazine was taken out of print, I decided to try public education. I spent ten years as a high school English and Journalism teacher, and while I loved it, the creative side of me wanted to do more than teach. In a leap of blind faith, I left education for the world of book publishing two years ago.

Although I don't have a lot of time for it, my deepest satisfaction comes from writing. Along with this blog, I have a cooking blog, Beyond Toast, and am working on my first novel.

I spent the first 29 years of my life in the Detroit area, followed by a few years of adventure in Chicago. I moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2008, where I met my husband, Eli. Currently, I live just outside Washington, D.C. with Eli and our daughter, Liliana.

In my free time, besides writing and cooking, I enjoy reading, running, traveling, and riding on the back of a motorcycle.
